Project Overview
The assembly instructions page of Structube was the first Magento-related task I had when I started at Structube. The original design of it was to load all of the assembly instructions on page load and provide a search bar that live-searched through the results on the page.
After about 6 months, we discovered later on that this was hugely increasing our load time and dragging down our SEO. Being more acquainted with Magento, I was tasked to find a better solution. I opted for a design that would put off loading any products until user input was acquired.
The way it currently is layed out, there's a text input for searching by name, short description and sku, and an alphabetical search for browsing products. The result was a 3000% decrease in page load time while maintaining the easy to use/search interface.
