Beyond the Product

Project Overview

Structube's campaign, Beyond the Product, was my biggest project within a work environment. The development phase was a month with concept revisions along the way. The webseries itself lasted 10 weeks, releasing on average one episode per week. The microsite is a medium for displaying just under an hour of combined video, countless images and an interactive experience.

The Challenge

Balancing design and functionality

  • Cross-browser compatibility
  • The episodal nature of the microsite
  • Creating an immersive and animated design while maintaining performance
  • Packing the site full of content without slowing down the site
  • Integrating shopibility into site

The Strategy

  • Working closely with graphic designers.
  • Utilizing Youtube autoscaling and Youtube API
  • Leveraging google analytics for video tracking and page visits
  • Creating an object based system for storing information about episodes; including products, images, and text content.
  • Infinite scrolling gallery and swapping out image tags for background images for iOS support
  • Toning down animations for tablets and offering mobile optimized site for smaller devices.

Conclusion

Beyond the product showcased the process behind Structube's buying process and the culture around the factories' regions. Driving over 30,000 page views, over $10,000 in sales, Beyond the Product was one of the most successfuly project I've worked on as of yet.
